A well-turned phrase can condense profound truth into a memorable statement. For this reason, I like quotes in general.
Some of my favorite quotes, however, are statements from missionaries of yester-year who are still remembered for their dedication and surrender to the Lord. In fact, it is their testimony that makes their quotes so weighty. They didn’t just talk about surrender, sacrifice, and eternal investments; they lived it.
Below are fifteen of my favorite missionary quotes. They are convicting, helpful, and encouraging to me. I hope they are to you as well. (And if you’ve never read the biographies of these missionaries, I’d encourage you to do so.)

People who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives … and when the bubble has burst, they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted. —Nate Saint
