The Lord provided an opportunity for special time with my sons Tuesday evening. I had a meeting in Phoenix, and a friend helped Larry, Matt, and I get seats at a Lakers v. Suns game. At the game, we passed out several tracts, and we were asked to do two interviews on NBC.
The Lakers lost the game, but spending the evening with Larry and Matt was a true joy. As John wrote, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth” (3 John 4).
I’m grateful for how God has used Larry during his trial with cancer. Larry has been given a very good prognosis, yet we are are asking everyone to keep praying during this time of intense surveillance. (He continues to have doctor appointments with x-rays and blood tests every 30 days.) Larry teaches weekly in our youth ministry and preaches in various meetings as the Lord allows. He has keen insights and a strong desire for the Lord and His work.
Matt is a real blessing to me. He and Katie are getting married in August, and they look forward to serving the Lord full time. This past year, in particular, it’s brought great joy to me to watch Matt grow in the Lord and in leadership. He preaches weekly at our Fontana extension, and his expository messages reveal a heart for the Lord and others.
Both of my sons are indeed walking in truth, and I’m so thankful to be their father.
