Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

1 Corinthians 15:1-4

One of the most common ideas expressed in our world today about religion is that all belief systems are basically the same, that they all lead to the same place, and that it doesn’t really make any difference which one you choose, or if you choose no religion at all. But there is one true gospel, and that same message by which we were saved is the only hope for a lost and dying world.

We must not lose sight of the central importance of the gospel, and we must not lose sight of what the gospel truly is. This is a serious issue, for it is one of the ways Satan is working most effectively to undermine the truth. The gospel is what God declared it to be and nothing can be allowed to take its place or alter it. Paul warned, “As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:9).

God has given us the awesome responsibility of taking the message of the gospel to the world. While He could have used angels or miraculous signs in nature or some other method, His plan was for those of us who have received His salvation to share that same message with others. We must be careful to never cloud the clear gospel message. The gospel message the world needs to hear from us must be delivered with complete clarity.
