But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Romans 8:9-11

The massive Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River in China had been discussed and debated for decades before it was finally approved by the government in 1992. Two years later work on the massive project began, but it was not until 2012 that the complete power generating plant was completed and began operating.  The dam and the resulting reservoir of water are so large that they actually slow the rotation of the Earth. The output of 34 massive generators makes Three Gorges Dam the largest power generating station on the planet. By comparison Three Gorges produces almost four times as much power as the Grand Coulee Dam in Washington which is the largest electrical power producing dam in the United States.

While that is certainly an impressive amount of power, it pales in comparison to the power of the Holy Spirit of God who dwells in every Christian. God’s power has no limits. He is able to do anything. The power of the Holy Spirit is even able to overcome the bonds of death. We will never face a challenge that is too much for God to handle. The power is there, yet all too often we go through life without seeing the things that God could do through because we insist on operating in our own strength rather than relying on His. Weakness on our part allows God to demonstrate His power. Paul wrote, “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10).
