Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
John 10:1-4
When David Spargo heard that his favorite band was holding a concert in Melbourne, Australia, he quickly purchased a ticket. But Spargo wanted more than just to sit in the audience and sing along with their songs. He wanted an opportunity to meet the members of Peking Duk. So Spargo went to their Wikipedia page and edited the band’s information to list himself as a family member. When he got to the event, Spargo showed the security guard his ID and the fraudulent information from Wikipedia and was escorted backstage to meet the band. Though they quickly discovered the deception, the band was impressed by his determination and invited him to stay for the show. “It was probably the most genius, mastermind move that I’ve ever witnessed,” band member Adam Hyde said.
There are many people in the world today trying to come to God on their own terms. Rather than accepting the gift of salvation, they attempt to reach Heaven in some other way. But all such efforts are doomed to failure. We either come to God on His terms or not at all. No matter how many good things we do, we will not be accepted into Heaven unless we truly know God and He knows us. “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:22-23).
