A Free Tool for Cultivating a Daily Habit of Praise

The word praise is repeated 248 times in our Bible. Over and over, we are admonished and encouraged to give God praise—not just for one blessing, but habitually. We are to be people of praise who consistently and constantly praise God for who He is and for what He has done for us.

Our American holiday of Thanksgiving and the emphasis it places on expressing our gratitude to God is a great moment to reset our habit of thanks to the Lord. But beyond celebrating a day of thanks, we should cultivate a habit of praise.

A few weeks ago, I prepared a devotional guide for our church family that was developed with the goal of cultivating a habit of daily praise. We began this booklet as a church family last month, and many of our members have shared with me that this guide has been a help to them. It has been a blessing also to be going through it together as a church family.

Friends across the country who have heard about it have asked where they can get a copy. With that in mind, I wanted to make this available to you—as a free download.

The best tool we have for praising God is His Word. Through Scripture, God tells us who He is, and that reality should be the basis of our praise.

For this reason, each day of this 40 Days of Praise devotional guide provides a Scripture passage that exalts the Lord and directs us in praise to Him. After each passage, there are two questions prompts to identify something specific for which to praise the Lord as well any additional insights from that passage. Then there is space for to write out a prayer of thanks to the Lord.
